AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KANO STATE ENGR ABBA KABIR YUSUF; “LET GRATUITY CHAPTER END WITH YOUR ADMINISTRATION”
Your Excellency,
With profound respect and gratitude, I wish to write in order to commend you for the significant steps taken by your administration towards addressing the long standing burden of unpaid gratuities and other retirement benefits owed to pensioners in Kano state.
The funds earlier released and the progress recorded demonstrates your administration’s effort as well as recognition of suffering of our retired civil servants. This effort is highly commendable and deserved the unanimous appreciation of all pensioners, their families and the entire people of Kano state.
However, Your Excellency, a substantial number of pensioners are still waiting for their legitimate entitlements. Many of these elderly citizens spent their greater days of their productive lives serving Kano state and now depends on their gratuities for essentials family needs, particularly on healthcare and dignified retirement.
I therefore and humbly appeal to you to make every possible effort to complete the settlement of all outstanding gratuity obligations.
A decision with three Great rewards:
POLITICALLY, completing the payment would create both enormous and tremendous goodwill for you and your administration. Pensioners are not merely individuals but they are parents, grandparents and members of the large family as well as community at large. This relief brought about to them would naturally translate into widespread appreciation and confidence in your leadership. It will equally strengthen the public image of your political party and enhance your personality and legacy as well.
SOCIALLY, the payment would restore dignity and hope of thousands of elderly citizens who have been given their best years to the service of the state at large. It would also demonstrate that Kano state does not abandon its citizens who served it faithfully.
ECONOMICALLY, gratuity payment would automatically put purchasing power directly into the hand of many who will spend it largely within the state – on food, healthcare, housing, transportation, education and many other necessities. This will for sure stimulate local businesses and contribute to economic development across the state.
Your Excellency, this is an opportunity for a lasting legacy. As you have already begun the journey towards resolving this difficult task. This is not merely an appeal for money but it is an appeal for dignity, justice, economic relief and lasting legacy.
Lastly, May Allah SWT grant you wisdom, strength and resources to complete this noble task, bless Kano state with prosperity and reward abanduntly for every relief brought to our pensioners and their families please.
