Your Eminence,
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah.
I write to you not as a politician, but as a son of Arewa, as a talaka, and as a concerned citizen who heard your powerful words in Sokoto.
Sir, when you said: *”Assess the campaign promises made by politicians, before making your choice. You have to know who you are voting for in 2027, and make the right choice”* – you did not just speak. You shook the conscience of the North.
In a time when many traditional rulers have chosen silence, or have allowed themselves to be used as tools for endorsement for money, you chose integrity. You chose to stand with the people of Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Sokoto, who are facing hunger, insecurity and joblessness.
You said 2027 is not about party politics, not about APC, PDP or ADC. You said it is about performance and accountability. You said all 2023 elected leaders must be held accountable for what they promised.
Your Eminence, that is true leadership. That is the leadership we were taught by Usman Dan Fodio.
*WHY THIS LETTER IS A RECOMMENDATION:*
1. *You are recommended to all Nigerians as the Moral Compass of the Nation.* At a time when the National Assembly has become a rubber stamp approving $20.51bn loans without question, you reminded us that power belongs to the people, not to Aso Rock.
2. *You are recommended as Defender of the North’s Dignity.* You showed that the 19 Northern States are not spectators, not for sale, and not automatic votes for any party. Our vote must be earned by performance.
3. *You are recommended as Guardian of Our Democracy.* By telling voters to scrutinize candidates, you have given strength to our campaign for clean voter register, for LG autonomy, and for rejection of tax on poverty. You have validated the cry of the common man.
Your Eminence, history will remember this statement. When politicians came with envelopes and slogans, you told the people: Open your eyes.
On behalf of Arewa Advocates, market women, farmers, okada riders, and unemployed youths across the North who cannot speak in high places, I say: *Nagode, Sarkin Musulmi. Allah ya saka da alkhairi. Allah ya kara maka lafiya da kwarin guiwa.*
We assure you, we have heard you. We will assess. We will ask: What was promised? What was delivered? Where is the rice that was N35k? Where is the security? Where did the loans go?
We stand with you. May your throne continue to be a source of justice.
Long live the Sultanate! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
